World Day of Prayer for Creation

Sep 1, 2020

September 1.  World Day of Prayer for Creation.  Day 1 Season of Creation.Patrick opened the topic on the facebook group: “Fr Oliver today began his reflection for this special day with these words. ‘Why is care of creation a Justice and Peace issue in some of our parishes? Surely it is for everyone in every family, sodality or catechism class?  And you know something, none of us owns creation even if we do own a little piece of land somewhere that we can or should be proud of cultivating. Whether it is land or creatures, we are carers not owners, no matter what the devil tries to tell us. Just listen to the words of the gospel.    Jesus rebuked the spirit of the unclean demon possessing the boy saying, “be silent and come out of him.”  From Luke 4:31-37.  Pope Francis.  Jesus does not enter into dialogue with the devil. He responds to the devil with the Word of God, and urges the faithful to always be alert and careful and to do the same.  Satan breaks into people’s lives to tempt them with his enticing proposals. He mixes his own voice with the many other voices that try to tame our conscience.  His paths perhaps give us the sensation of being self-sufficient, of enjoying life as an end in itself. However, all this is illusory and very quickly, we realize that the more we distance ourselves from God, the more defenseless and helpless we feel when facing the large existential problems. Angelus reflection on 1st Sunday of Lent 2020  Pope Francis: Prayer for the Care of Creation. 1. Father, we praise you with all your creatures. They came forth from your all-powerful hand; they are yours, filled with your presence and your tender love. Praise be to you!
