Who encourages our children best? Family Thought: Women and Men Matter, August 13.

The team conducting a parenting workshop asked the participants, “Is it the mothers and fathers or grandmothers and grandfathers, together, who encourage their young ones to get ahead and build a good life, trusting in God, not being afraid?”.

The Lord said to Moses, “be strong and of good courage, do not fear or be in dread : for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. he will not fail you or forsake you.”  Then Moses summoned Josua and said to him, “Be strong and of good courage; for you shall go with this people into the land.  The Lord goes before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you or forsake you.”  Deut 31:1-8. Pope Francis: God sets the father in the family so that by the gifts of his masculinity he can be close to his wife and close to his children as they grow – when they play and when they work when they are carefree and when they are distressed, when they are daring and when they are afraid, when they stray and when they get back on the right path.   AL 177
