Sent Two by two. Family and Grandparent Thought Sunday 14C 7 July

After their own marriage enrichment experience Dullah and Dawn had been struck by the call to go out as a couple and help other younger couples prepare for marriage. After some time they also recognised the need to support the young married couples as children started to arrive. For many years they ran a group in their parish to share their own parenting and even grandparenting experiences which helped many families deal with their relationship issues.

The Lord appointed seventy others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place. He said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:1-20.

Pope Francis: The initial years of marriage are a vital and sensitive period where couples become more aware of the challenges and meaning of married life. Pastoral accompaniment needs to go beyond the actual celebration. Experienced couples have an important role to play and the parish is a place for this. AL 223
