A sense of sin is about breaking a relationship

As they were sitting together one day the grannies shared their thoughts about Confession.  “I know Pope Francis says we should go to confession often. I find it quite hard.  What sins do we oldies really have to repent about as we keep on hearing in the readings these days?” “I thought about that too and spoke to my priest.  I now see that a sense of sin is what I feel when I have done something to break a relationship, with God or someone else, even my kids and grandkids” Peter had been sitting nearby but kept his thoughts to himself. “I know deep down inside that I haven’t always been faithful to my wife and know too that is something I will need to bring to Confession one day.”

At that time Jesus began to upbraid the cities where most of his mighty works had been done because they did not repent. Matthew 11:2-24.  Pope Francis:   In the Sacrament of Reconciliation God forgives our sins, which he truly blots out, and yet sin leaves a negative effect on the way we think and act.  But the mercy of God is stronger.
