Self-examination matters. Family Mission Thought October 10

As they were waiting for the evangelisation meeting to start the women would gather outside for a bit of gossip.   “I shouldn’t say this, but……..”   “Why does Paulina always look so glamorous? Where does she get the money from if she just works as a clerk at the post office?”  Then they would go in and pray for goodness and justice and for their daily needs.

The Lord said to them, “you have spoken against me, saying evildoers not only prosper but when they put God to the test they escape.” Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another.  The Lord heard them and said, “They shall be mine. On the day when I act I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.  The day is coming when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble, the day shall burn them up.”   Malachi 3:13 – 4:2

Pope Francis: This is the source of the Church’s heroic and impatient struggle for renewal: the struggle to correct those flaws introduced by her members which her own self-examination, mirroring her exemplar, Christ, points out to her and condemns.”
