New heaven and earth. Ubuntu Family Thought for the Day 12 March

March 12th. When the family read the encouraging passage from Isaiah Joy shared she was feeling confused.  “I thought Lent was about sackcloth and ashes, and repentance and being miserable with long faces and here we are reading about God creating new things.” “That is true,” her mom said,” and it carries on to show a picture of the time when we have repented and all has been completed according to God’s plan. In other words after the sackcloth and ashes and repentance.  Isn’t that what we are hoping for?  From Is 65:17-21. She added, “I think we should plan soon for our family Reconciliation time and for going to confession, don’t you agree?”  I will rejoice over Jerusalem  and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. 20 “Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days or an old man who does not live out his years;

Pope Francis:  I invite priests once more to prepare carefully for the ministry of confession.  I ask you to be welcoming to all, witnesses of fatherly love whatever the gravity of the sin involved, attentive in helping penitents to reflect on the evil they have done, clear in presenting moral principles, willing to walk patiently beside the faithful on their penitential journey, far-sighted in discerning individual cases and generous in dispensing God’s forgiveness.  MM 10
