Loving nature as our partner with God

Mar 20, 2020

March 20.   Marcia had decided that as a Lenten activity she would search her Bible for references to nature and the environment. “It is amazing how especially in the Old Testament there are so many images about God and nature and much of it is positive and beautiful.  Thinking how we are ignoring that and contributing to climate change and destroying our world has been a real learning experience for me. I asked my family to do a carbon footprint check.”

Yahweh says to Israel, “I shall cure them of their disloyalty, I shall love them with all my heart, for my anger has turned away from them.  I shall fall like dew on Israel, he will bloom like the lily and thrust out roots like the cedar of Lebanon.  He will put out new shoots, he will have the beauty of the live tree and the fragrance of Lebanon.   From Hosea 14:1-9   Pope Francis:   When we speak of the environment what we really mean is a relationship existing between nature and the society which lives it.  Nature cannot be regarded as something separate from ourselves or as a mere setting in which we live.   LS 139. After reflecting consider an action response and end with prayer
