Honouring the Sabbath. Family Thought.

March  9.  Patricia shared,  “Lent can be pretty difficult if we have to make real sacrifices. Giving up my nice long lie-in on a Sunday is quite a sacrifice.   A good start would be going to church as we haven’t been doing for some time. Plus going out of my way to do something special for someone on a Sunday would also be a good thing.  Can I then tell them this is a Lenten sacrifice?

If you turn back from doing your pleasure on my holy day and call the sabbath a delight, if you honour it, not going your own ways or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly, then you shall take delight in the Lord.   Isaiah 58: 9-14

Pope Francis: Sunday proclaims man’s eternal rest in God.  Christian spirituality incorporates the value of relaxation and festivity. It gives us a renewed sensitivity to the rights of others.   EG 237
