Has the “successful” 2019 election said anything about families and climate change?

I don’t believe any of the political parties has said anything meaningful about the important role of families as socialising agents and, from a Church perspective, evangelising agents.  Many of the social ills that need remedying can be seen to have a family component.  So we are automatically on board.

May 15 is UN INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILIES, this year in 2019, and has been every year since the 1st UN International Year of Families in 1994.  Each year a theme is suggested and recent ones have always chosen a partnership with the Sustainable Development Goals.   This year’s theme is CLIMATE ACTION.   There are plenty of ways families can contribute to this.  The attached documents suggest a CARBON FOOTPRINT activity.   Maybe kids know more about that than their parents. Fair enough.  They can teach us for a change.

Thanks to the UN, to the Department of Social Development Family Services Forum and any local NGOs for promoting it locally and keeping a family focus in the public eye.
