Evelina had looked at the gospel for the day before she wrote to the grandparent facebook group asking a question, “What makes you most tired? Is it the grandchildren, or the children and their hassles?” Norah replied, “No, not really. For me just being old makes me tired. My bones ache, my eyes run, I’m shaky on my feet, and I’m considered normal. I see many older people in frail care situations, quite honestly just waiting to die. That does make me quite sad. I like to share where I can how much a relationship with Jesus can give one peace, sharing our pains, physical and mental does ‘give me rest.’”
Jesus declared, “Come to me all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” From Matt 11:28-30.
Pope Francis: The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator, of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary, his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint and strengthens the powerless. LS 73
