Christian Unity week Tuesday. Ubuntu Family Thought 14 May

“No longer as a slave but a beloved brother.”   Pray for the Roman Catholic Church.

Prayer. Gracious God,  draw near to those who are victims of human trafficking, assuring them that you see their plight and hear their cry.  May your Church be united in compassion and courage to work for that day when no one will be exploited and all will be free to live lives of dignity and peace.

This we pray in the name of the Triune God who can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.  Amen.

The right hand of God is lifting in our land, lifting the fallen one by one; each one is known by name, and rescued now from shame, by the lifting of the right hand of God.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY.     The theme for the Christian Unity week is “Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power” and the focus is on the region of the Caribbean where Christianity was brought by missionaries. The programme was developed with the local churches and is presented by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity and other denominations. Download the programme with background information and reflections from www.vatican.va    As many of the realities, racism, xenophobia and human trafficking are particular concerns in South Africa at this time  too, this programme is very relevant in the SA context.  In many families there are also different religions and different practices. These reflections are an opportunity and invitation to pray and reflect together in homes and groups.
