Appreciating our Youth. Family and Youth Thought for the Day June 11

It was quite strange, but it was after their parents had attended a parenting programme that things had begun to change at home.  It seemed as if they all felt more accepted and that even small gifts and talents were appreciated.  Michael and Lucia seemed more relaxed when their parents were around and the sulky look on his face disappeared. There were more smiles, and more interest in each other’s activities on the part of everyone. “What happened” the teens asked each other. ”Some kind of miracle I think!” Mom shared, “Spending time teasing out a simple bible verse and applying it to our family life was the miracle for us I suppose. Thanks be to God.”

You are the light of the world.   Let your light shine before men so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.    Mat 5:13-16

Pope Francis: So, we cannot just say that you young people are the future of our world. You are its present! You are no longer children. You are at a time of life when you must assume a number of responsibilities, sharing alongside adults in the growth of the family, society and the Church. CV 64.
