A Missionary response to protests. Family Mission Thought 8 October

Crime and violence seem to come over us in waves,” the J&P coordinator shared. “Just recently it was gender-based violence and xenophobia and a mixture of criminality, all at the same time with women and foreigners being targets.  It took some doing but eventually after a big protest march the President did come and address the protestors and make some promises about action to be taken.  But that will be action by the police and the government. Shouldn’t our work as missionaries be to preach conversion to every man and woman too, as people in relationships?”

Jonah proclaimed to Nineveh,  “in forty days Nineveh shall be overthrown.”   Tidings reached the king and he proclaimed “let man and beast be covered with sackcloth and let them cry mightily to God, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence which is in his hands.  Jonah 3:1-10.   \

Pope Francis:   In many parts of the world, cities are the scene of mass protests where thousands of people call for freedom, a voice in public life, justice and a variety of other demands which if not properly understood, will not be silenced by force.  EG 74
