COMMITMENT
Africae Munus, Pope Benedict’s Apostolic Exhortation on the 2nd African Synod is translated as “Africa’s Commitment.” Its opening line is a powerful statement of trust. “Africa’s commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ is a precious treasure which I entrust to the bishops, priests, permanent deacons, consecrated persons, catechists and lay faithful. Through this mission Africa is led to explore its Christian vocation more deeply, to live reconciliation between individuals and communities and to promote peace and justice in truth for all.” AM1. How can that be teased out and applied in the Church’s various different contexts and for us, parents and youth?
