• WHY?

  Damn it God, why did you have to make us each so different.
  Knowing, loving, serving You seems like a piece of cake
  compared to knowing, loving serving You
  in this creature you have given me.
  John’s letter claims, “How can you say you love God whom you cannot see,
  when you do not love your neighbour whom you can.”
  This neighbour shares my bed, my house,
  the monthly bills, the lifts, the planning for our future.
  Why can’t we think the same thoughts the same way, at the same time?
  Why make the wrong assumptions even after all these years?
  Why?

  God replied:
  “Being different was meant to be a blessing.
  I created you to complement each other,
  to fill the gaps,
  to make a rounded perfect whole.
  Man’s – and woman’s – disobedience
  changed all that.
  But don’t despair – that’s why I sent My Son.
  to teach you the Way.
  What could be simpler – I didn’t say easier –
  than “Love one another as I have loved you.”
